What do you think of the FOSS(free open source software) movement, if positive do you think “the left” should promote it more? If negative, why?

I think FOSS movement is a net positive for our society. Being free means that users can save money and don't have to worry about developers putting profit over user experience, while being open source breaks the monopoly of technologies previously held in hands of corporations. FOSS belong to everybody. I believe the Left should support free and open source softwares. FOSS represents a breakaway from corporations sucking blood from employees and customers, opens a new opportunity of collaboration between different people, and most importantly, debunks the myth of innovation stemming from profit motives, one of the pillars of capitalism. Also, I now currently use GIMP, a free and open source software, in lieu of Photoshop. Fuck Adobe.
